JGW-A Show About Gems, Jewellery and Global Connectivity

All Set to Dazzle the International Jewellery Market, JGW will Debut as an Omni Channel Jewellery Show Next Week

The much anticipated Jewellery & Gem WORLD (JGW) Hong Kong is scheduled to start in the second week of September this year and the jewellery world is counting days to September 13th when the show kicks off. Given the restrictions on international travel in 2020,  the show took on an online-only format last year, to accommodate attendees who would not have made it to a physical show. Building on last year’s digital marketplace success, this year vendors and trade buyers will  be experiencing JGW as an omni-channel jewellery show.

Previously known the world over as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, JGW this year is divided into two components-the Physical fair which will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from September 17th through September 20th and the Virtual show which starts on September 13th and runs through September 30th.

According to David Bondi, Senior Vice President of Informa Markets Asia, parent organization of the Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong, “JGW Physical is returning in September with a modified format and in a secure environment where one can do business with confidence. Although the show will look and feel different compared with previous September fairs, we believe it will inspire a level of engagement that is unique to face-to-face interactions.”

The importance of these face to face interactions when combined with the ability to connect virtually as well, affords JGW trade and B2B attendees immense flexibility. They are free to choose either or both formats, physical or virtual, depending on their requirements. While JGW Virtual, like other past shows, is only open to trade and B2B buyers, the Physical show, for very the first time, this year, is allowing jewellery lovers and social buyers to come and see what is new and trending in the world of fine and high jewellery, alongside regular B2B participants.

Attendance at the JGW Physical is expected to be more regional than international this year and many safety and health measures have been set in place to allow attendees to participate in the show with complete peace of mind.

Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, noted about JGW Physical that it offers “participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world that celebrates beauty, craftsmanship, innovation and design. For trade buyers, JGW presents a wholesale sourcing opportunity for a wide range of products. For jewellery lovers, this is where they can find export-quality occasion jewellery, memorable and timeless gifts, and stylish designs for everyday wear in a wide range of price points.”

JGW Virtual has been set up to allow effective and efficient virtual business interactions to take place. Tools such as  online showrooms, product or supplier search functions, event scheduling and networking features such as instant video conferencing and live chats, enable the platform to function as a digital market place, spanning the globe. With the Virtual show starting before the Physical fair and ending much after that, trade and B2B participants can preview products, connect with existing and new suppliers and plan for inventory before, during as well as after JGW Physical winds down, without setting a foot at the HKCEC venue.

Attendees to both formats, Physical and Virtual, will find exhibitors of fine and finished jewellery, diamonds and precious coloured gemstones, a large variety of pearls, silver jewellery, jewellery accessories as well as jewellery display and packaging materials.
