Mikimoto’s latest jewellery collection, Prestige Rendezvous, is guided by the ‘Borderless’ concept, which encourages jewellery lovers to approach high jewellery with greater freedom and ease, blurring the distinction between daytime and evening wear. In essence, it is a bejewelled invitation to jewellery lovers to bring the Maison’s high jewellery into their everyday life, rather than reserving it solely for formal occasions.
This approach is reflected in the collection’s design aesthetic. While the pieces evoke old-world glamour, the designs are modern and stylish. The ‘Borderless’ concept also underscores Mikimoto’s commitment to inclusive and versatile jewellery design, responding to an increasing demand for high jewellery pieces from male clients.

Prestige Rendezvous Highlights
“At MIKIMOTO, our commitment to excellence is rooted in a relentless pursuit of the finest materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and continuous technical innovation,” observes Kentaro Nishimura, Mikimoto US President and CEO.

These three attributes are clearly observed in Prestige Rendezvous. The collection showcases a series of statement necklaces featuring top-quality white South Sea cultured pearls. These necklaces are further embellished with diamonds as well as large, colour-drenched gemstones, ranging in size from 20 to 30 carats, including rubellite, mint tourmaline, and Santa Maria aquamarine.
The inclusion of these outstanding gemstones is a considered choice. Not only do they complement the iridescence of the pearls, but the Maison is also responding to a sustained demand for coloured gems in the high jewellery market.

“With Prestige Rendezvous, we further solidify our position as a leader in high jewelry—bringing together the world’s most exquisite pearls, remarkable diamonds, and exceptional colored gemstones through designs that are both visionary and enduring,” notes Nishimura.
In addition, the collection also includes eight new brooch designs, set with pearls and coloured gemstones. Two of them have been crafted in the classic wreath motif, with one featuring a large, white South Sea pearl while the other is set with two superb natural conch pearls and coloured sapphires.

Standout Pieces
One of the most striking pieces in the collection is a woven pearl collar, interspersed with diamonds, offering a luminous dazzling expression of Mikimoto’s signature lacework motif.
The collection also includes a medallion pendant necklace centred on a 14mm Akoya pearl, set in a frame of diamonds and pearls. The large size of the medallion lends an elegant boldness to the piece, while its delicate, lace-like design creates a graceful interplay of light, lustre and sparkle. The pendant is also detachable and can be worn as a brooch.

Prestige Rendezvous, Brand Elasticity and Occasion Expansion
Mikimoto is a heritage brand and a purveyor of exceptional pearls, with more than a century of distinguished legacy. As such, it has built considerable brand equity as one of the world’s premier pearl houses.
In recent years, the Maison has extended its reach within the global high jewellery landscape through the inclusion of exceptional coloured gemstones into its creations. The Maison’s strong and robust brand equity enables and even supports this form of brand elasticity. Thus, through its ‘Borderless’ concept, gender-fluid jewellery designs and the integration of top-quality coloured gemstones, Mikimoto has expanded what consumers have come to expect from the brand.
However, what is truly innovative is the brand’s occasion expansion strategy with the Prestige Rendezvous collection, within the umbrella of its ‘Borderless’ concept. Rather than limiting high jewelry to formal occasions, the collection positions luxury as something to be integrated into daily life. In essence, by increasing the contexts in which pieces can be worn, Mikimoto has broadened both the practical relevance and emotional value of high jewellery.

The ‘Borderless’ Vision of Modern High Jewellery
With Prestige Rendezvous, Mikimoto refines its definition of high jewellery for a contemporary audience. The collection highlights the brand’s shift towards a freer and less restrictive approach to jewellery, where luxury jewellery pieces are designed to move effortlessly between moments and occasions.
